Georgia Generational Farming Archive
Preserving the place-specific wisdom of retiring American farmers for the next generation — starting in Georgia
Knowledge That Cannot Be Googled
Every year, experienced American farmers retire — taking with them decades of place-specific knowledge about local soils, microclimates, pest cycles, market relationships, and business practices that simply cannot be found in any textbook or database.
The Georgia Generational Farming Archive uses AI-assisted interviewing and structured knowledge capture to preserve this irreplaceable wisdom and make it searchable, actionable, and free for the next generation of farmers. Launching in Georgia, this model is designed to scale nationally.
This is our most ambitious long-term initiative — and the one that will have the most enduring impact on American agriculture.
What Will Be Captured
- ▶Soil knowledge specific to local counties and microclimates
- ▶Local market relationships and buyer networks
- ▶Seasonal patterns, weather adaptations, and climate change responses
- ▶Farm business structures, financing strategies, and succession planning
- ▶Community relationships and cooperative buying/selling practices
The Clock Is Ticking
The average age of an American farmer is over 60. Without deliberate knowledge capture, that wisdom retires with them.
Retiring Farmers
Thousands of American farmers carry knowledge accumulated over 30, 40, 50 years. Structured interviews — not just oral history, but actionable data — preserve what matters most.
AI-Assisted Structure
Our AI interview system doesn't just record — it structures. Answers are tagged by crop, county, season, and topic so that beginning farmers can search for exactly what they need.
Free & Open Access
The Archive will be free to access for any beginning farmer. The goal is democratisation of knowledge — not a paywall between new entrants and the expertise they need.
Place-Specific Wisdom
National databases don't know that the red clay in Oconee County drains differently after a late-summer storm. This archive will. Hyper-local knowledge for hyper-local success.
